United Airlines just upgraded the signup bonus for their United Explorer credit card. It is now a tiered bonus, letting new cardholders earn up to 65,000 miles after meeting the required spends. According to United this new bonus is in play for a limited time and is set to end on January 8, 2019.

How do people earn the new sign up bonus? It’s simple during the first three months they have their new card they must spend $2,000, and at that point, they receive 40,000 miles. Then once they spend $10,000 during the first six months of having their United Explorer Credit Card they get an additional 25,000 miles, for a grand total of 65,000 miles.

The inside scoop on the United Explorer Credit Card

The sign-up bonus for this card gets cardholders off to a good start. But when they travel they also earn double miles when traveling with United Airlines. They also get double miles when booking hotel stays and when eating out at restaurants. All other purchases made with this card earn cardholders one mile per dollar they spend.

When traveling getting through TSA can be daunting but this card comes with a $100 Global Entry or TSA PreCheck fee credit to make it easier. Cardholders also get their first checked bag for free, as well as being able to take advantage of priority boarding, when traveling with United Airlines.

While flying with United Airlines cardholders also get 25% back on in-flight purchases, such as Wi-Fi, food, and drinks. And there are no foreign transaction fees with this card.

No blackout dates and lounge access

Putting your feet up at a lounge when traveling can be a big help, and in keeping with this theme cardholders also get two United Club passes annually.
There are no blackout dates for cardholders to deal with when using miles to book flights, and miles never expire.

During the first year of having the card consumers do not pay an annual fee, and after that point, the annual fee is $95 annually.
