Capital One Cardholders Earn 10x Miles When Booking Stays

Capital One and Hotels.com have partnered up so that Venture and VentureOne cardholders can earn 10x miles when booking stays. They can book hotels at thousands of locations when using their Venture or VentureOne credit card on the Hotels.com website.

This new initiative works hand in hand with the Hotels.com Rewards loyalty program so that members can also earn one free night after 10 stays. Venture cardholders keep earning rewards as usual, and miles can be used to book travel with any airline, rideshare, flight, and hotel, without any blackout dates to deal with.

This is a multi-year deal so cardholders will be able to take advantage of the extra rewards earning capabilities for a while. This initiative is seen as a way for Capital One to give their cardholders more rewards earning options. “We know travel is important to our customers, and that they are always looking for new ways to earn rewards that are both genuinely valuable and fit into their lifestyles,” said Lauren Liss, Digital Partnerships & Rewards Lead at Capital One.

“It’s important to us that we meet their needs on this front. With this multi-year partnership, we are attempting to make it extremely easy for people to earn rewards, regardless of the trip they are taking, or the type of lodging they book,” she said.

People want to keep rewards simple

Simple, easy to use rewards that are also flexible are trending with consumers according to a new Capital One travel survey carried out in January 2018. “When people travel, they want the flexibility to stay where and when they want and be rewarded for it,” said Scott Ludwig, Director, North America for Hotels.com.

“We’ve always been able to give this to our customers through our Rewards program. This new offer for Venture cardholders provides even more value for travelers and we’re excited to partner with Capital One to make this generous and flexible offer possible.”

Friends and family factor big into travel

The study also found that more than half (59%) of people in the United States, plan out their trips a month or more before hitting the road.

Visiting friends and family are also in style with 68% of respondents indicating that they went to visit family or friends at once or more last year. Millennials upped the ante in this area with 74% visiting friends or family, with 60% guesstimating that they have shelled out up to $2,500 on those trips.

What about all the generations combined? Here 55% of people spent the same amount when visiting their loved ones. And all the generations, whether they are Millennials, Gen X or Baby Boomers, valued friend and family time is a top travel experience.
