News: Chase Freedom 5% Cash Back Categories for Q1 of 2024 Revealed - Credit-Land.com

Chase Freedom Flex℠ and Chase Freedom® (no longer available to new applicants) cardmembers can now activate 5% cash back categories for the first quarter of 2024.

Chase's 5% quarterly cash back 2024 calendar will start with such categories as grocery stores (excluding Walmart® and Target®), fitness clubs and gym memberships, and self-care and spa services. The activation is already open and eligible cardmembers can activate 5% cash back for the first quarter now and through March 14, 2024. If you do not activate by March 14, 2024, you won't be able to do so after that date.

Just to remind you the rules, the 5% cash back in quarterly categories is limited to $1,500 in combined purchases in this quarter's bonus categories. That means you can earn up to $75 back each quarter if you activate bonus categories. When you reach the quarterly limit, you will continue earning 1% cash back in those categories.

Other 5% cash back categories of 2024 haven't been revealed yet, however they will be released closer to the beginning of each next quarter. Here is the schedule of the 5% cash back calendar:

- January - March: grocery stores (excluding Walmart and Target), fitness clubs & gym memberships, self-care & spa services. Activate now and by March 14, 2024

- April - June: to be announced on March 15, 2024

- July - September: to be announced on June 15, 2024

- October - December: to be announced on September 15, 2024.

While Walmart and Target are excluded from the Q1 categories, you may expect them to appear in 5% categories later next year. And fitness and gyms are included in Chase's 5% calendar again. Here you can review 5% categories of 2023:

- January - March: grocery stores (excluding Walmart) Target, fitness clubs & gym memberships

- April - June: Amazon.com and Lowe's

- July - September: select live entertainment, gas stations and electric vehicle charging

- October - December: PayPal, wholesale clubs, and select charities.

Not all 5% categories will be included in the next year's 5% cash back calendar, but you can use past calendars as a reference to predict future possible categories.

If you want to have more opportunities to earn 5% cash back on purchases, you can consider getting the Discover it® Cash Back card. The Discover's 5% calendar will start the first quarter of 2024 with restaurants and drug stores.
