News: Use Credit Card Perks to Save Money on Valentine's Day Shopping - Credit-Land.com

The most romantic day is approaching fast, and if you are planning something special to celebrate it with your sweetheart, check out credit card perks first.

Americans spend billions on Valentine's Day every year and there's nothing wrong with expressing your love through gifts. Whether you are planning a romantic dinner at home or want to treat your partner to a getaway, don't start your Valentine's Day shopping without knowing what your credit card perks have to offer.

A credit card can give you access to special offers and savings on specific purchases. For example, the Citi Premier® Card (Citi® is a Credit-Land.com advertising partner.) comes with an Annual Hotel Savings benefits allowing you to save $100 on a single hotel stay of $500 or more. You can spoil your partner with a short romantic getaway to a luxurious hotel.

You can also save on a dinner at a restaurant with the Capital One SavorOne Cash Rewards for Good Credit card or the Wells Fargo Autograph℠ Card. Both cards will earn unlimited 3% cash back and 3X points correspondingly on dining and at restaurants. Plus, Capital One has a dining program - Capital One Dining. The portal can help you with exclusive reservations or access to culinary experiences.

Those who prefer celebrating at home to a night out, can also reduce their total spend on preparations. Cooking a romantic dinner together is fun and the Discover it® Cash Back card will help you save on groceries with its current 5% cash back at grocery stores (now and through March 31, 2023, on up to $1,500 in purchases when you activate).

You can also redeem your credit card rewards for a short trip on Valentine's Day. Many big issuers have special portals where you can find great deals. For example, Citi has Citi ThankYou Rewards and Capital One has Capital One Travel where you can grab deals or, if you do not want to spend earned rewards, earn higher rewards.

Gift cards can also make a great Valentine's Day present. Many credit cards will allow you to redeem earned rewards for gift cards (and sometimes with considerable discounts). Just make sure your partner loves the merchant (and gift cards).

Valentine's Day can be an expensive holiday, but it doesn't have to. You can always find a way to save money and, at the same time, make this special day memorable.
