News: Chase 5% Calendar 2025: Q4 Chase Freedom Categories - Credit-Land.com

Chase Freedom®* (no longer issued) and Chase Freedom Flex® Credit Card* are the two Chase credit cards that have rotating bonus categories, which let cardholders earn 5% cash back (on up to $1,500) in changing categories throughout the year. Cardholders of these credit cards can now activate 5% bonus categories for the fourth quarter.

The new Chase's 5% bonus categories for the fourth quarter of 2025 are the following:

  • Old Navy®: Refresh your wardrobe with Old Navy's selection of sporty, chic and comfy clothing.
  • Chase Travel℠: Earn 5% cash back on eligible purchases made on ChaseTravel.com. For Freedom Flex cardmembers, that becomes even more rewarding with 9% total cash back when booking through Chase Travel. Eligible travel purchases include airline tickets, hotels, car rentals, cruises, activities and tours.
  • Department stores: Get an early start on the holiday season with 5% cash back at department stores.
  • Bonus category - PayPal®: During the month of December, cardmembers can earn 5% cash back on purchases made using PayPal, helping make holiday shopping a breeze.

To earn 5% cash back in these categories, Chase Freedom and Freedom Flex cardmembers need to activate bonus categories first. The activation is already open and will be available until December 14, 2025. To activate bonus categories, log in to your online account or the Chase mobile app. The earlier you activate, the more time you'll have to earn maximum cash back this quarter.

If you want to maximize your earnings, you can also get a Discover credit card that has 5% bonus categories (on up to $1,500, activation required). This quarter Discover's 5% bonus categories are amazon.com and drug stores.
