Chase announced new 5% cash back categories for the third quarter of 2026. The new categories will be gas stations, electric vehicle charging, public transit, select live entertainments, and donations to United Way. These categories will allow Chase Freedom* and Chase Freedom Flex* cardmembers to earn 5% cash back from July 1 through September 30, 2026 on up to $1,500 in combined purchases.

Cardmembers can already activate Q3 categories. The activation will be open until September 14th, 2026.

  • Gas Stations and EV Charging: You can earn 5% cash back on gas station and electric vehicle charging purchases. If you own a car or frequently rent cars when you travel, you can easily maximize rewards while you're fueling or charging up for summer road trips.
  • Public Transit: Earn 5% cash back on eligible public transit purchases, including trains, buses, ferries, toll bridges and highways, and parking lots and garages. You can earn rewards on your daily commute or weekend adventures.
  • Select Live Entertainment: You can earn 5% cash back on tickets to select live entertainment events, including concerts, sporting events, zoos and amusement parks. Use your eligible Freedom card to make the most of your summer activities.
  • United Way: Earn 5% cash back on donations to United Way through their official channels. United Way programs help build thriving communities. If you have a United Way nonprofit in your area, you can earn bonus rewards on your charitable contributions in Q3.
