News: Discover Revealed 5% Cash Back Categories For Second Quarter 2024 - Credit-Land.com

New details for Discover's 5% cash back categories for the second quarter are now available, as well as the activation. From April 1 and through June 30, 2024, you'll earn 5% back on up to $1,500 on purchases made at gas stations, electric vehicle charging stations, home improvement stores, and public transit.

Existing cardholders of the Discover it® Cash Back, Discover it® Student Cash Back, NHL® Discover it®, and Discover it® Balance Transfer can now log in and activate 5% bonus categories for the next quarter. The activation will be open through the entire second quarter, but if you do not activate, you will earn the basic 1% back in rotating categories.

Here are more details on what purchases will qualify for the 5% cash back:

  • Gas stations & Electric vehicle charging stations: purchases made at gas stations that sell automotive gasoline that can be bought at the pump or inside the stations, and public electric vehicle charging stations (stations affiliated with supermarkets, supercenters, and wholesale clubs may not be eligible; and certain parking garages where public electric vehicle charging is offered or included may not be eligible)
  • Home improvement stores: online and in-store purchases at home improvement retail stores, building supply stores (e.g. lumber, paint, and hardware stores), lawn, nursery, and garden supply stores. Purchases that do not qualify: purchases made at home furnishing, home appliance, plumbing, heating supply, and floor covering stores, plus purchases made through third parties.
  • Public transit: local commuter passenger bus, rail, and ferry services. Purchases that do not qualify: taxi, rideshare services, long-range passenger land, rail, and water transportation services.

Current Discover 5% calendar bonus categories are restaurants and drug stores. If you haven't activated them yet, you can do it now. These categories will end on March 31, 2024.
