News: Earn More American Miles When You Fill Up Your Car at Shell - Credit-Land.com

American Airlines teamed up with Shell and the Fuel Rewards® program to allow its members to earn AAdvantage® miles when they fill up at Shell.

AAdvantage members can now link their AAdvantage account to their Fuel Rewards account to start earning 2 miles for each gallon of Shell fuel purchased at participating locations. Those who are not yet a Fuel Rewards member can join the program and earn a bonus of 100 AAdvantage miles by completing the first fill-up of at least 5 gallons at Shell. The bonus offer is only valid through December 31, 2022.

Those who already have an active Fuel Rewards account won't earn the bonus offer. Plus, when they choose to earn AAdvantage miles, they will forfeit their Gold and Silver status fuel savings, which are 5 and 3 cents per gallon correspondingly. However, there is one more benefit of linking your AAdvantage account: the miles you earn will also count toward Loyalty Points, meaning you can get American Airlines elite status faster.

American Airlines also has credit cards that earn miles rewards, including on gas purchases. The Citi® / AAdvantage® Platinum Select® World Elite Mastercard® (expired offer) and the Citi® / AAdvantage Business™ World Elite Mastercard® (expired offer) earn 2 AAdvantage miles for every dollar spent at gas stations. American Airlines members can use these cards to make purchases and earn miles even faster.
