News: New Chase Freedom Flex Credit Card - Credit-Land.com

Chase announced the launch of their new Chase Freedom Flex℠ card and updates to the Chase Freedom Unlimited® card.

The new Freedom Flex card will become available for application starting September 15, 2020. New cash back offerings for Freedom Unlimited will also roll out at that time.

"Flex and Unlimited are the next evolution of the Chase Freedom credit card suite and challenge the status quo for what consumers expect from a no fee, cash back card," said BJ Mahoney, General Manager of Chase Freedom, in a news release.

The newest Chase Freedom Flex card will be a Mastercard credit card and will feature World Elite Mastercard benefits. Cardmembers will also have access to Priceless Experiences where they can find online and offline activities.

As for the Freedom Flex's rewards program, cardmembers will earn cash back on:

  • 5% on Bonus Quarterly Categories. Cardmembers can activate each quarter to receive 5% cash back on up to $1,500 in combined purchases on bonus categories such as grocery stores, select streaming services and many others.
  • 5% on Travel purchased through Chase Ultimate Rewards, including vacation and car rentals.
  • 3% on Dining purchases, including take out or eligible delivery services.
  • 3% on Drugstore purchases on daily essentials like medicine, toiletries, diapers and other items.

All other purchases will earn a standard 1% cash back without limits.

The Freedom Flex's Mastercard benefits include World Elite Benefits and such benefits as cell phone insurance, a $10 Lyft credit for every five rides taken in a calendar month, 5% cash rewards on Boxed purchases, ShopRunner free membership, and double VIP+ points for movie tickets purchased via the Fandango.

As for the Freedom Unlimited cardmembers will earn 5% on travel purchased through Chase Unlimited Rewards, 3% on dining, and 3% on drugstore purchases in addition to the current 1.5% cash back on all purchases and Visa benefits.
