News: New Walmart OnePay Credit Card: Up To 5% Cash Back - Credit-Land.com

Walmart has relaunched its credit card program again. This time the company partners with OnePay, a leading consumer fintech, and Synchrony, a premier consumer financial services company, to power its new credit card program.

As part of the program, OnePay and Synchrony issue two Walmart credit cards: the OnePay CashRewards Card* and the OnePay Walmart Spend Card*. The first is a general-purpose card, which serves as the program's signature card and is available to use anywhere Mastercard is accepted. The second is a private label card, which can be used exclusively for Walmart purchases.

The OnePay CashRewards Card offers unlimited cash back on Walmart purchases, with Walmart+ members earning 5% back and everyone else earning 3% back. The Walmart+ membership costs $12.95 per month or $98 annually, plus applicable taxes. So if you do not have the membership yet, you may want to do some math to understand how beneficial it will be with the new Walmart credit card.

You will also earn 1.5% cash back on all other purchases outside of Walmart. Add here no annual fee and you'll get a solid everyday card.

The welcome offer of the new OnePay CashRewards Card is not very competitive compared to other cash back cards: $35 cash back when you open the card and spend $75 or more within 30 days. However, the spending requirement is low, and it's better than nothing.

Other card benefits include instant card access for eligible cardholders via the OnePay and Walmart apps, no foreign transaction fees for purchases made in currencies other than U.S. dollars, and better redemption flexibility.

While there are two Walmart credit cards, the application is available for the OnePay CashRewards Card only. If you do not qualify for a OnePay CashRewards Card, you will be considered for a OnePay Walmart Spend Card, which does not have a standard cash back program.
