You cannot purchase a membership to The Centurion Lounge. Access is only available to American Express Platinum cardmembers, Delta SkyMiles® Reserve cardmembers, Centurion Members, and eligible guests. However, the Centurion Lounge guest policy has changed. Now, most cardmembers no longer have free guest privileges.
The changes to the Centurion Lounge guest policy affect cardmembers with The Platinum Card® from American Express and The Business Platinum Card® from American Express. Thus, starting February 1, 2023, cardmembers will need to pay a per-visit fee to bring guests into the lounge with them. The price is $50 for each adult and $30 for children aged 2 through 17.
To be able to bring guests for free, Platinum Card and Business Platinum Card members will need to qualify for Complimentary Guest Access by spending $75,000 on their card each calendar year. This way, cardmembers will be able to bring up to two quests per visit for free. Just keep in mind that the spending requirement reset each calendar year, meaning you will have to meet that spending requirement each year.
A handy workaround for families is to add family members as authorized uses to your Platinum card. Authorized users aren't subject to the $50 fee. Platinum members can add up to three authorized users for a total fee of $175 per year. Cardmembers of the Business Platinum cards will have to pay $350 per year for authorized users.
While the new Centurion Lounge policy can be frustrating, there is a bright side - Centurion lounges will likely become less crowded.
"We want to make sure we continue to back our Card Members when they travel by delivering a comfortable space for our Card Members to recharge and relax, which is why we are making some changes to our Centurion Lounge guest access policy," Amex said in a previous statement explaining the change.
