News: Shop Saks With Platinum Promotion From American Express - Credit-Land.com

American Express and Saks Fifth Avenue are giving people with the American Express Platinum Card a new perk - they can now earn $100 in statement credits with the new "Shop Saks with Platinum" promotion. To get the credit, all you have to do is enroll in the program and go shopping at Saks Fifth Avenue. You must pay for your purchases using your Platinum Card.

People can earn a total of $100 in statement credits annually, but this promotion is broken up into two earning streams. When they shop at Saks Fifth Avenue from January through June, they are eligible for a $50 credit. And then from July through December, they can earn another $50 credit.

This new partnership with Saks Fifth Avenue is seen as an extension of American Express's ongoing efforts to give their cardholders access to more benefits.

"We've seen an incredible response to the new access, experience and services we've added to the Platinum Card over the last year," said Christopher Cracchiolo, Vice President, Global Membership Rewards & Loyalty Benefits at American Express.

"We're excited to continue the momentum by adding even more value with the 'Shop Saks with Platinum' benefit through our partnership with one of our Card Members' favorite retailers," he added.

Earning 5X points with the American Express Platinum Card

American Express Platinum cardholders can earn 60,000 points as a bonus once they use their card to buy $5,000 in goods and services during the first 90 days they have the card.

With this card, they also earn 5 points on every dollar when booking airline tickets directly from the airline or via American Express Travel. But that's not all - they also earn 5X points when booking hotel stays via amextravel.com as long as the stay is prepaid. All other purchases earn one point per dollar.

With this card, people also get a $200 Airline Fee Credit, which can be used to offset the cost of incidentals such as checking a bag or buying an in-flight meal. To get this credit, cardholders simply pick a qualifying airline and they get the credit when they make qualifying purchases with that carrier.

What airlines are part of this program? They include Alaska Airlines, Hawaiian Airlines, American Airlines, Delta Airlines, Southwest Airlines, United Airlines, Frontier Airlines, JetBlue Airways and Spirit Airlines.

Cardholders also get $15 in Uber credits every month, which are good for rides within the U.S. along with a bonus $20 in December. These credits can be found in the Uber app. Cardholders also get Uber VIP status.

When staying at properties in the Hotel Collection cardholders also get a $75 hotel credit, which is good for qualifying charges, along with the 5X points they get when booking their prepaid stay.
