News: Some Upgrades Coming for American Express Business Platinum Cardholders - Credit-Land.com

In 2019 people with the Business Platinum Card will be able to take advantage of some upgrades arriving with the new year. These new benefits are designed to boost productivity, as well as give cardholders more perks when traveling for business. Starting in February cardholders will get one year of free access to WeWork locations all over the world, so they can set up shop no matter where they are.

They are valuing this perk as being worth $2,700. On top of that, they will also get a $200 Shop Dell statement credit every year for purchases made via the electronics retailer, as long as purchases are made directly from Dell. "The way people do business is changing, and there are still barriers to staying productive on the go, which is why we're introducing solutions that support our customers' agility and productivity - anywhere they need them," said Courtney Kelso, Head of U.S. Commercial Card Products at American Express.

"The Business Platinum Card is designed to give business owners an edge, and we're thrilled to bring WeWork and Dell on as partners to give our customers the business tools, global office space, and technology they need to take their business even further," she added.

They are also raising the hotel credit for Hotel Collection stays to $100, up from the $75 it is now. This increased credit is good for stays made after January 2019.

The annual fee will be going up to $595 and will kick in with the cardholder's next renewal date after 2019.

Somethings change, some stay the same

While American Express is upgrading some perks, cardholders with the Business Platinum card will still earn 5X points on prepaid travel booked via amextravel.com. This includes stays booked at certain Fine Hotels & Resorts properties via amextravel.com. They indicate that they will be adding new properties in 2019.

Cardholders also earn 1.5X points on purchases of $5,000 and up. They can earn up to one million additional points a year in this category.

When they use the Pay with Points feature to pay for some or all of a flight they get 35% back. They can get up to 500,000 points back a year with this perk.

In addition with this card, people get a $200 Airline Fee Credit, along with a credit to cover the cost for the Global Entry or TSA PreCheck program application.

More lounges coming soon

Chilling out at a lounge or getting in some work when traveling can be a big plus for business travelers, and in keeping with this theme, American Express is expecting to open new Centurion Lounges in Philadelphia and Hong Kong. They are also expanding their lounge in Dallas Fort Worth airport.

Business Platinum card gets access to over 1,200 airport lounges around the world, including The Centurion Lounges, Priority Pass Select, Airspace, Delta Sky Club when traveling with Delta.
