First of all, congratulations! Second - that's a great question. It's tempting to want to apply for a Kay credit card when you're about to make a purchase from their store. Before you do, though, think about what you're really hoping to get from a new credit card. Will you be making many purchases at that store, after this one? If you don't think you'll have a reason to use that card very much after you pop the question, it might make sense to look at some other types of credit cards. Notice I didn't say to just use the regular credit card you already have in your wallet. No, if you're making a large purchase (people often spend two months' salary, or more, on an engagement ring), it's a good idea to find a great new credit card, perhaps one with 0% introductory rate so you won't pay interest if you carry a balance.
