We all thought that the refreshed Chase Sapphire Reserve® card had relaunched with the highest possible welcome bonus offer and expected that the new welcome bonus would be lower when the limited-time offer ends.
But apparently, Chase didn't want to come up to our expectations and actually offered an even higher number of bonus points.
Surprisingly, the Chase Sapphire Reserve® card is now offering 125,000 bonus points after spending $6,000 on purchases in the first three months from account opening. Those points are Chase Ultimate Rewards® points and are worth 1 cent per point when redeemed for cash. That means the updated bonus is worth $1,250 when redeemed that way. But you can potentially increase the value of the bonus points by redeeming them for travel or transferring them to travel partners.
With the new bonus offer, the other card's benefits remain the same. Cardmembers will continue earning elevated rewards through the Chase Travel portal and in specific categories. Plus, all new and expanded benefits that include various statement credits on travel and access to lounges remain unchanged.
The new 125,000-point bonus offer on the Chase Sapphire Reserve® card has unexpectedly raised the bar and become a new top offer for this card. However, some consumers may argue that the previous limited-time bonus offered better value with its 100,000 bonus points and a special $500 Chase Travel credit after meeting the spending requirement. And indeed, it was an excellent offer, but the new bonus does not require cardmembers to book via Chase directly in order to get its full value.
