Breaking or losing your smartphone can get expensive, but so can paying for insurance to cover it. This is something Citi, a Credit-Land.com advertising partner, knows well so they are adding cellphone protection to the Citi Prestige® credit card package starting May 1, 2019. What comes along with this package? Cardholders get up to $1,000 in coverage for every claim and up to $1,500 each year to cover up to five phones whether they are damaged or stolen.
In order to take advantage of the cellphone protection benefit cardholders must use their Citi Prestige® credit card to pay their cellphone bill each and every month. It is also important to note that there is a $50 deductible on each phone.
5x points for Air travel and a 50K bonus
Having a Cellphone protection plan is great but for many earning points trumps everything else, and with the Citi Prestige® credit card they earn 5x points when booking airline tickets and when eating out. But that's not all they also earn triple points on hotel stays and when booking a cruise. All other purchases earn them one point per dollar.
A welcome bonus can help cardholders get off to a good start when it comes to banking points, and with this card, new cardholders can earn 50,000 bonus points. In order to get the bonus they must spend $4,000 over the first three months they have their new card.
Travel benefits, free lounge access and more
Cardholders who are booking hotel stays also get a free fourth night when they book a stay that lasts for four nights or more, as long as they book their trip via ThankYou.com. In the past, there was no cap on this benefit but starting on September 1, 2019, cardholders will only be able to take advantage of this offer twice a year. That said trips booked before then do not count toward that cap.
People who like to chill out in a lounge while flying can do just that with the Priority Pass Select membership included with this package.
They have also included a $250 travel credit that can be used to cover eligible purchases. It is applied automatically when a purchase shows up in the system.
Thank You points can be redeemed for travel and can be transferred to some airline loyalty programs, including TrueBlue, Virgin Atlantic Flying Club, and Singapore Airlines Krisflyer. Points can also be redeemed for cash, statement credits, and gift cards.
