Fans of the Chase Sapphire Preferred® Card love it for the bonus points it allows them to earn on travel and dining and for the opportunity to transfer points to various transfer partners.
While the Sapphire Preferred card has many great benefits, there is one annual benefit that allows cardholders to earn additional points on their total card spend during the account anniversary year - 10% anniversary points bonus. Here's what you can read in the offer details:
10% anniversary points bonus: Each account anniversary year, you'll earn bonus points that equal 10% of your total spend in points from purchases made with your credit card during the previous account anniversary year at a rate of 1 point for each $1 spent. "Account anniversary year" means the year beginning with your account open date through the anniversary of your account open date, and each 12 months after that.
This bonus offer is different from earning 10% back of the points you earned a given year. Instead, you are earning 10% more points based solely on your card spending during your account anniversary year. That means if you spend $25,000 on purchases during your cardmember year, you'll get 2,500 bonus points, and if you spend $100,000 on purchases, you'll get 10,000 bonus points.
To track your progress for the 10% anniversary bonus, simply visit the Ultimate Rewards portal and click on "Rewards Activity." Here you'll find a summary of your spending, points earned, and your progress under "10% anniversary points boost." You will also see your current anniversary period there.
Once a new anniversary period starts, you will get your bonus points. However, it's important to note that your bonus points will post to your rewards account after 60-90 days after your anniversary period is over.
The 10% anniversary points bonus does not require any activation or do anything specific to get the bonus. It's also easy to track your progress. If you do not want to bother much, you can simply let the points fly in.
