Oneworld® and Moscow Domodedovo airport agreed to build the first oneworld-branded lounge at Moscow Domodedovo.
Oneworld is an airline alliance that brings together 13 airlines that serve 1,100 airports in 180 territories. The member airlines are American Airlines, British Airways, Cathay Pacific Airways, Finnair, Iberia, Japan Airlines, LATAM (to leave the alliance on 1 May 2020), Malaysia Airlines, Qantas, Qatar Airways, Royal Jordanian, S7 Airlines and SriLankan Airlines, and around 30 of their affiliates. Royal Air Maroc is on track to join on 1 April 2020.
Moscow Domodedovo Airport is one of the largest air hubs in Russia. It is also the main hub for oneworld member S7 Airlines.
While oneworld airlines already operate their own lounges around the world, the new lounge will be the first lounge built and operated by the alliance itself.
"We are excited to launch the first oneworld branded lounge at Moscow Domodedovo in this momentous year, as we celebrate the alliance's 20th anniversary with an invigorated mission to deliver the highest levels of service and most seamless travel experience to our customers," said oneworld CEO Rob Gurney. "Moscow Domodedovo is the home of our member S7 Airlines, and we are thrilled that the first oneworld branded lounge will be located at its hub." Domodedovo is a major hub for the oneworld alliance in Russia. The airport handles over 150 daily flights by oneworld member airlines, including S7, British Airways, Iberia, Japan Airlines, Qatar Airways, and Royal Jordanian.
There has been given no timeline yet for when the new lounge will open. However, more details, including the opening date, are to come in 2021.
