News: TSA and Clear May Soon Get One Application - Credit-Land.com

The U.S. Transportation Security Administration is reportedly working with Clear to issue a single application for both programs TSA PreCheck and Clear.

The TSA is working with Telos and Clear to provide one application for TSA PreCheck and each company's services. There is no established date for when this happens. But the TSA will issue an authorization for Telos and Clear when each is ready to begin operations as TSA PreCheck enrollment providers.

Both Clear and PreCheck are growing rapidly. Each program has more than 14 million members and their number is only expected to grow. With Clear becoming an authorized TSA PreCheck enrollment provider, more people in more places are expected to join TSA PreCheck.

Once Clear completes a trial period to become an enrollment provider, Clear will begin offering TSA PreCheck enrollment services to the public at select locations using Clear pods.

There is no information whether current prices of each service change. Currently, Clear charges $189 annually, with discounts available through airlines (e.g. United and Delta) and other partners (e.g. American Express). The fee for TSA PreCheck was recently lowered from $85 to $76, and membership lasts five years.

Clear is available for travelers at 51 airports, plus stadiums and other large venues. TSA PreCheck is available for those flying with over 80 participating airlines in more than 200 airports. Clear is a secured identity platform that uses such member data as fingerprints and iris scans to verify a member's identity and skip them to the front of TSA security lines. Those who also have PreCheck will proceed to dedicated PreCheck checkpoints and won't be required to remove their shoes, unload electronics, liquids, light jacket and will go through metal detectors instead of full-body scanners.
