Bilt Rewards has recently added JAL Mileage Bank, Japan Airline's mileage program, as a new transfer partner. The partnership allows Bilt Rewards members to transfer their Bilt Points to JAL miles at an industry-leading 1:1 ratio. This makes Bilt Points even more flexible and valuable rewards currency in the market.
JAL's partnership with Bilt is the first of its kind partnership with a U.S. loyalty program. It's a significant milestone as Bilt becomes Japan Airlines' first 1:1 transfer partner in North America, and JAL becomes Bilt's first Japan-based travel partner and second in Eastern Asia. The membership also allows Bilt members access Japan Airlines' extensive global network as part of the oneworld Alliance.
Before you transfer your Bilt Points to JAL Mileage Bank, keep in mind that this program has its own rules. Thus, it's typically required for a new JAL Mileage Bank account to be at least 60 days old to start making award bookings. However, Bilt members get an exception: there will be only up to a seven-day waiting period for miles redemption following the transfer of Bilt Points to a JAL Mileage Bank account.
However, even if you do not have plans to redeem Japan Airlines miles right now, it won't hurt to create an account sooner rather than later to start the 60-day countdown.
Here are key benefits of JAL Mileage Bank:
- 1:1 Transfer Ratio: For every 1,000 Bilt Points you transfer, you'll receive 1,000 JAL miles
- Quick transfers: Bilt members can expect their points to be transferred within 10 minutes
- Premium Travel Experience: JAL offers award-winning premium cabins, including its first class "JAL Suites" with spacious, private seating and its business class "Sky Suite" featuring lie-flat beds and direct aisle access
- Generous Stopover Policy: Book multi-city itineraries with up to 3 stopovers on partner airline awards and up to 7 stopovers on oneworld alliance awards
- oneworld Alliance Access: Use JAL miles to book flights on Alaska Airlines, American Airlines, British Airways, Cathay Pacific, Qantas, Qatar Airways, and other oneworld carriers
- Non-Alliance Partners: JAL also partners with several non-oneworld airlines, including Air France, Emirates, and Hawaiian Airlines
To earn Bilt Points, you can pay rent using any credit card linked to your Bilt Rewards account. However, if you want to avoid transaction fees and earn even more Bilt Points, you can get the no-annual-fee Bilt World Elite Mastercard® credit card, which earns 1X Points on rent payments without the transaction fee (up to 100,000 points each calendar year; you must use the card five times each statement period to earn points).
