News: Two AAdvatage Credit Cards To Refresh With More Ways To Earn And New Travel Benefits - Credit-Land.com

Highlights

- Citi, American Airlines and Mastercard are refreshing the Citi® / AAdvantage Business™ World Elite Mastercard® and the Citi® / AAdvantage® Platinum Select® World Elite Mastercard®*

- Both cards will have their annual fees increased from $99 to $150 after the first year, with a $0 introductory fee for the first year remaining.

- New benefits include Global Entry® or TSA PreCheck® application fee credit, enhanced travel benefits, and new ways to earn AAdvantage® miles.

Citi, American Airlines and Mastercard announced upcoming enhancements to the Citi® / AAdvantage Business™ World Elite Mastercard® and the Citi® / AAdvantage® Platinum Select® World Elite Mastercard® early next year. Cardmembers will get new travel benefits, enhanced existing benefits, and new ways to earn AAdvantage® miles and maximize value from everyday spending.

The most noticeable updates on both cards include up to $100 on inflight purchases (replaces existing 25% savings on inflight food and beverage purchases), Global Entry or TSA PreCheck application fee credit, travel protection benefits, and new categories with elevated rewards.

The updated Citi® / AAdvantage Business™ World Elite Mastercard® will offer businesses more ways to earn miles on business expenses, new travel benefits and greater flexibility. Here's what new card benefits include:

  • New: 3X AAdvantage® miles on eligible AAdvantage Hotels® bookings made on aadvantagehotels.com
  • New: 3X AAdvantage® miles on eligible AAdvantage Cars® bookings made on aadvantagecars.com
  • New: 2X AAdvantage® miles on an eligible Self-Select Category of the cardmember's choice: U.S. shipping providers, office supply stores or U.S. advertising services
  • New: Up to $120 Global Entry® or TSA PreCheck® application fee credit every four years
  • Enhanced: Up to $100 back in statement credits annually on inflight purchases
  • New: 25% off a Melio subscription plan to help manage business payments
  • New: Travel protections, including Enhanced Trip Cancellation and Trip Interruption, Lost or Damaged Luggage, MasterRental® (Car Rental) and Trip Delay.

The enhanced Citi® / AAdvantage® Platinum Select® Mastercard® is a good option for occasional travelers who enjoy travel and lifestyle benefits and love earning higher rewards in various categories. Here's what new card benefits include:

  • New: 3X AAdvantage® miles on eligible AAdvantage Hotels® bookings made on aadvantagehotels.com and eligible AAdvantage Cars® bookings made on aadvantagecars.com
  • New: 2X AAdvantage® miles on select streaming services
  • New: 2X AAdvantage® miles on eligible Rides and Rails™ purchases
  • Enhanced: 2X AAdvantage® miles at gas and EV charging stations
  • Enhanced: $150 American Airlines Flight Discount, increased from $125, after spending $20,000 or more in purchases during cardmembership year and renewing the card
  • New: Up to $120 Global Entry® or TSA PreCheck® application fee credit every four years
  • Enhanced: Up to $100 back in statement credits annually on inflight purchases
  • New: Complimentary annual Walmart+ membership ($98 in value) for primary cardmembers to enjoy Free Delivery ($35 minimum for scheduled delivery orders), Gas Savings and Video Streaming Choice
  • New: 50% discount on an annual FOX One subscription
  • New: Travel protections, including Trip Delay Protection, Trip Cancellation & Interruption Protection, Worldwide Car Rental Insurance and Lost Baggage Protection.

Both cards will continue earning in their existing categories and will retain most benefits, including preferred boarding on American Airlines flights, first checked bag free on eligible domestic itineraries, no foreign transaction fees, and savings on vacation packages.

The update comes with a cost, though. Beginning January 24, 2027, annual fees for both cards will be increased from $99 to $150. This fee will still be waived for the first 12 months of account opening.
