The Baggage allowance for Delta credit cards depends on the SkyMiles Credit Card you have. You will receive your first bag free on Delta flights booked with either of the SkyMiles credit cards below:

  • Delta SkyMiles® Gold American Express Card* - first checked bag free;
  • Delta SkyMiles® Platinum American Express Card* - first checked bag free; or
  • Delta SkyMiles® Reserve American Express Card* - first checked bag free.

This benefit can be used for bags that are not overweight or oversized. According to Delta's applicable rules, your first bag should be under 50 lbs. (23 kg) if you want to receive it for free.

If you do not have a credit card with a free bag on Delta benefit, but you are a Delta SkyMiles Medallion member with at least Silver status (excess oversize and/or overweight baggage fees may apply).

If you are not a member of the SkyMiles loyalty program and do not have a qualifying Delta credit card, you can still avoid baggage fees by using a credit card with travel rewards. You can pay baggage fees with a travel credit card and then use earned rewards to cover those fees.
