If your credit is good and you want to take advantage of special offers that each store card gives their cardmembers, there is no reason you can't carry cards from every store you shop at. However, you might want to give it some serious thought first. For one thing, applying for a lot of credit cards in a short period of time can be bad for your credit score. Each time you apply, there's a hard inquiry into your credit report, resulting in a small ding to your credit. Too much new credit too fast isn't the best way to keep your credit score healthy. For another thing, you could be using a cash back credit card that gives you even greater rewards for all your purchases. That means fewer cards to carry, and better rewards too. Before you start applying at the registers of all your favorite shops, take a look at what rewards credit cards have available and might be even better choices for you.
