You can apply for a credit card and use it to pay the bills. At the same time you will be able to build your credit history. If your credit score is 550 and higher, you can apply for the Credit One Bank® Platinum Visa® for Rebuilding Credit. This is an unsecured VISA credit card with a rewards program. You will be able to earn cash back on gas purchases. Your credit activity will be reported to the major credit bureaus, so you will be able to improve your credit history.
