I am trying to decide between the Blue Delta Skymiles card and the Discover it Miles card. I don’t really fly a lot but when I fly, I prefer Delta. Is it worth having a American Express Delta credit card or I’d better choose the one from Discover.

This dilemma is quite common among those who do not fly a lot. And in most cases the answer would be getting a regular credit card like the Discover it® Miles card because it is cheap and you won’t lose much in rewards. However, since the Blue Delta SkyMiles card has no annual fee as well, we would recommend you applying for both credit cards. The reasoning is quite simple. First, having the Blue Delta card, you will earn miles on Delta tickets twice: as a member of SkyMiles program and as a Blue Delta cardholder. And the second, you will earn more miles on everyday purchases using the Discover it® Miles card. If you put everyday purchases on to the Blue card, you will earn only 1 mile per dollar, whereas the Discover it® Miles gives 1.5 miles per dollar. Discover allows redemptions for cash and cash is easier to use when miles don’t work. In addition, Discover matches all the Miles you’ve earned at the end of your first year (provided you are a new cardmember). For example, if you earn 35,000 Miles, you get 70,000 Miles.

I like discover it miles card because of its rewards program and bonus at the enf of first year. By the way, Delta raised ther requrements to elite status. You should spend at least $250k to get elite status. If you spend this amount with Discover card, you’ll earn 375k miles and then discover will match your miles, and you’ll get 750k miles.

Very disappointed in Delta card. My wife and I opened this card to get a free flight out of delta. We accumulated the right amount of miles and paid it off on time. I tried to pay with miles for my next tickets and… one month later I receive the bill over $400! I don’t know, why delta sent me the bill in dollars if I paid with miles?! I don’t have right now enough money to pay this bill! I heve NEVER missed my payments. What will happen now?
