News: 5% Cashback Bonus® from Discover: It's Time To Activate For Q4 - Credit-Land.com

Discover revealed the remainder of its 2023 Cashback Bonus calendar, and eligible cardmembers can now activate new categories to ensure smooth earning of 5% cash back in those categories.

The new 5% Cashback Bonus category for October - December 2023 is Target. The activation is already open, so if you have an eligible Discover it credit card, you can log in to your account and activate. Cards eligible for 5% Cashback Bonuses include Discover it® Cash Back, NHL® Credit Card, and Discover it® Student Cash Back.

With the 5% Cashback Bonus categories, you should always keep in mind that you need to activate them to be able to earn 5% cash back. The activation is open until the end of the corresponding quarter. But the earlier you activate, the more time you'll have to maximize your savings. Unfortunately, earnings are capped: you can earn 5% Cashback Bonus on up to $1,500 in purchases. That means you can earn up to $75 cash back each quarter. All other purchases earn unlimited 1% cash back automatically.

Since the third quarter has not ended yet, you still have time to activate the Q3 bonus categories, which are gas stations and digital wallets. The requirements to earn 5% cash back are the same: you need to activate and earnings are capped.

Here are current 5% Cashback Bonus categories and for the Q4:

  • Gas Stations and Digital Wallets (now - September 30, 2023)
  • Target (October 1 - December 31, 2023)
