The cards new names and new designs will be rolled out on February 13th. They also come along with new benefits and perks which will be released throughout 2019.

There are three credit cards in the American Express and Marriott line up, and they all will have new names:

  • The Starwood Preferred Guest American Express Luxury Card will become the Marriott Bonvoy Brilliant American Express Card.
  • The Starwood Preferred Guest Credit Card from American Express is being rebooted as the Marriott Bonvoy American Express Card.
  • The Starwood Preferred Guest Business Credit Card from American Express will be known as the Marriott Bonvoy Business American Express Card.

That said starting on March 28, 2019 people with the Marriott Bonvoy Brilliant American Express Card can use a $100 property credit and an exclusive code that gives them a reduced rate when they are booking a stay at Ritz-Carlton or St. Regis properties. Marriott Bonvoy Gold Elite Status is also included in this package along with a free night and Priority Pass membership. The annual fee is $450 a year.

That said starting February 12th they are no longer taking applications for the Starwood Preferred Guest American Express Card, but existing cardholders will still be able to earn rewards and take advantage of the card’s benefits.
