News: Artists in Residence on American Express - Credit-Land.com

American Express has partnered with music stars in the past including Pharrell Williams and Maroon 5. Now Gavin James, Pia Mia, Rae Sremmurd and BØRNS will all be taking the stage as part of their summit, which is the second round in their UNSTAGED: Artists in Residence program designed to give artists a boost with fans, and give cardholders some exclusive experiences and content.

“American Express has a long heritage of supporting music artists on their creative journeys,” said Walter Frye, vice president, sponsorships and branded entertainment, American Express. “We are excited to continue the Artists in Residence program in 2015 by welcoming four incredibly talented artists BØRNS, Gavin James, Pia Mia and Rae Sremmurd to the American Express family.

We’re helping these artists connect with more fans, cultivate their craft and grow their personal brand, while also creating authentic, live and digital music experiences for fans around the world.”

On August 20 in Los Angles the artists will perform for American Express cardholders at the El Rey Theater. The concert will be filmed, so people who can’t make the live performance can check it out on August 24th via the website, Vevo, AmexNow and the Unstaged App.

Artists’ stories take center stage too

Starting August 20th fans will be able to visit the new revamped American Express UNSTAGED website, which now includes an Artists in Residence page. On it people can check out videos telling the story of the artists’ musical journeys, including what inspires them. Fans can also access new content on the website, along with information about the AIR program.

While fans win, so do the artists, with the American Express Artists in Residence Summit gives the artists and their management teams access to information on the best way to use and leverage digital and social media streams like Pandora, Instagram, Twitter, YouTube, and Billboard, so they can connect with fans, and bring new ones into their musical fold.

Artists also get to have one-on-one sessions with industry insiders including music video director Diane Martel; fashion stylist Brandy St. John; music marketing and creative director Kelly Covell, vice chairman, Interscope Geffen A&M, Steve Berman, and producer and songwriter Emile Haynie, to help them streamline their musical career.

Fans helping out their favorite artists

Fans can aid performers by helping them win or “unlock” special opportunities set up by American Express, including having the artist take over the Instagram account for Vevo, a music video platform. How? They give the artist a shoutout on Twitter and Facebook and include the #AmexAIR hashtag. This promotion begins August 20 and isn't over until all the opportunities have been unlocked. More information is available on the site or via the UNSTAGED app.
