At the end of last year, Barclays acquired AARP card portfolio from Chase, and this month they introduced a set of revamped AARP credit cards - the AARP® Essential Rewards Mastercard® from Barclays and the AARP® Travel Rewards Mastercard® from Barclays.
The new AARP cards from Barclays are available to everyone and AARP membership is not required to apply for them. However, AARP members can benefit more from having the AARP credit card. Both AARP credit cards offer cash back rewards, 0% intro APR on balance transfers, and a $0 annual fee. The AARP Essential Rewards will be a better fit for everyday expenses, while the AARP Travel Rewards card is geared towards travelers.
