News: Discover's 5% Cashback Bonus Categories for Q4: Amazon.com and Target - Credit-Land.com

Those who've been waiting for Discover to reveal 5% cashback bonus categories for the fourth quarter, rejoice! Starting October 1 and through the end of the year, the new categories will be Amazon.com and Target. You can now log in and activate.

Current 5% cash back categories are Walmart and grocery stores. You can still activate them if you haven't done it yet. You will simply have less time to maximize the 5% cashback bonus this quarter.

New categories - Amazon.com and Target - will start from October 1 and will last through the end of the year, December 31, 2024. You don't have to wait for the fourth quarter to start, you can log in to your Discover card account and activate new categories right now

The rules for 5% Cashback Bonus remain the same: you need to activate to earn 5% cash back and there is a spend cap of up to $1,500 in category purchases for each quarter. Once you reach the cap, you will continue earning 1% cash back in quarter categories and on all other purchases.

The Q4 categories come right in time for pre-holiday shopping season and for those who stockpile household necessities. Amazon.com purchases include those made through the Amazon.com checkout, like digital downloads, Amazon Fresh orders, Amazon Local Deals, Amazon Prime subscriptions, and items sold by third party merchants through Amazon.com's marketplace. In-store purchases at Amazon Go and Amazon Fresh are also included. However, purchases made online and in-store with Whole Foods Market are not included in the 5% cash back category. Target purchases include those made in-store at Target, Target.com, or through the Target app.

If you do not have a Discover credit card yet, you can apply for one to start earning up to 5% cash back on your purchases. Here's a list of credit cards eligible for the 5% Cashback Bonus:
