Consumers who have been eyeing any of the Southwest Airlines credit cards may want to take a closer look because the carrier has increased the sign-up bonus for all three of their co-branded consumer credit cards. As of now, new cardholders can earn up to 60,000 bonus points when they meet their spending requirements. This way they can start traveling with points ASAP.

Right now all three cards offer the same bonus point structure. Whether people opt to go for the Southwest Rapid Rewards Priority Credit Card, Southwest Rapid Rewards Premier Credit Card or the Southwest Rapid Rewards Plus Credit Card they earn 40,000 points once they spend $1000 within the first 90 days of having their new card. Then during the first year if they spend $12,000 they earn an additional 20,000 bonus points. The grand total is 60,000 bonus points during the first year of having their card.

Enhanced bonus for the business card too

What about the Southwest Rapid Rewards Premier Business Credit Card? With that card, people also earn 60,000 bonus points but the spending thresholds are a bit different.
Business owners get the bonus points once they spend $3,000 on purchases during the first 90 days they have the card.

The inside scoop on the Southwest consumer credit cards

All three cards offer cardholders double points on every dollar spent with Southwest Airlines, as well as with Rapid Rewards hotel and car rental partners. All other purchases earn one point on each dollar spent. That said each one comes with different perks and benefits.

They also get additional benefits, including four upgraded boarding’s per year, no foreign transaction fees and they earn tier qualifying points towards A-list status. The annual fee for this card is $149.

On the other hand with Southwest Rapid Rewards Premier Credit Card consumers get 6,000 – anniversary points every year. The card also comes with a variety of travel perks including no blackout dates, and unlimited rewards seats. Also when they check their bags the first two bags are free and when changing flights there is no change fee. The annual fee for this card is $99.

Last but not least, with the Southwest Rapid Rewards Plus Credit Card people receive 3,000 – anniversary points on their anniversary, and the annual fee for this card is $69.
