News: Two Citi Cards Now Offer More Bonus Points - Credit-Land.com

The COVID-19 pandemic forced some people to alter their spending habits. Credit card issuers make additions to existing credit cards to align with these changes and to meet cardholders' evolving needs. Thus, Citi announced a set of changes to its two popular credit cards - Citi Premier® Card and Citi Prestige® Credit Card (expired offer).

Citi Prestige cardholders can now earn 5x ThankYou® points on online purchases, including retailer website orders, online grocery orders, and online drugstore orders. The new bonus category will run only through August 31, 2020. The points are capped at 7,500, which means that only $1,500 in spending will earn those 5x points.

This new benefit comes in addition to Citi's decision to temporarily expand purchases that qualify for the $250 travel credit. Now and through the end of the year, Citi Prestige cardholders will be able to use this credit on groceries and restaurants.

Citi Premier® Card cardholders will get early access to some of the previously announced benefits. Starting June 2 (instead of planned August 23, 2020), cardholders will earn 3x ThankYou points on groceries and dining. Other benefits will become available on August 23, 2020, as was originally planned.

These changes are mostly aimed at existing Citi Premier® Card and Citi Prestige cardholders to help them make use of the cards.
