News: United Explorer Card Extends Sign-Up Bonus Promotion - Credit-Land.com

If you saw that the new United Explorer card was offering a limited-time 40,000-mile sign-up bonus but didn't apply for it before the July 16 cutoff date, you are in luck. The issuer has extended the bonus end date. Now the bonus expires on August 15, 2018.

People get the bonus once they spend $2,000 during the first three months they have the card. This bonus is on top of the double miles people can earn when purchasing tickets via United Airlines and booking stays at hotels for business or pleasure. Cardholders also earn double miles when heading out to a restaurant.

They have added additional benefits to the card's offerings, including a credit of $100 to pay for either the Global Entry or TSA PreCheck clearance, both of which helps travelers get through security faster.

When flying with United Airlines, they also get 25% off when buying snacks, drinks and food, as well as when paying for in-flight Wi-Fi.

The perks and benefits

The United Explorer card was launched in June and is designed to replace the United MileagePlus Explorer card. While they changed some aspects of the card, others are the same. For instance, travelers with this card get to check their bag for free, and so does one of their traveling companions. To get this perk, just pay for your ticket with the credit card.

Who doesn't love priority boarding? This card comes with this perk, as well as two passes that are good for a trip to the United Club. So when travelers are in-between flights or early for their flight, they can chill out and relax.

The United Explorer card also comes with last seat availability, and there are no foreign transaction fees.

Blackout dates can make booking a flight hard, but cardholders don't have any blackout dates to wrangle with then using this card, and their miles never expire.

There is a $95 fee for the United Explorer card, but it is waived the first year.

Using miles

When looking to use miles to book a flight, cardholder's can use their miles with United Airlines, but they can also book tickets with partner airlines and the Star Alliance through the MileagePlus program. Miles can be used to pay for other aspects of travel, including a hotel stay, a car rental and to get a seat upgrade.

Cardholders can use their miles to get gift cards, tickets to an event or buy merchandise, too.
