Have you ever wondered what rewards program are trending with world travelers? Well, if you have, the word is out United's MileagePlus loyalty program scored the title of Best Overall Frequent Flyer Program for 2016 in Global Traveler, a monthly magazine, designed with luxury travelers and frequent business travelers in mind.
Readers of the publication actually chose the winners, with United coming in tops in this reader-based survey for the last 13 years, which started in 2004. For United the award is a result of their commitment to their customers. "The accolades given to United's MileagePlus program validate our continued commitment to providing our loyal customers with an industry-leading experience," said Praveen Sharma, Vice President, Loyalty at United.
Credit cards win too
United’s credit cards also received kudos from readers as well. With the United MileagePlus Club Card from Chase getting the Best Credit Card and Best Credit Card Rewards Program award. With this card people earn two points for every dollar spent with United, and 1.5 miles on all other purchases. They also get a $100 statement credit, their first and second bags checked for free, United Club membership, and Premier Access. And there are no foreign transaction fees.
The United MileagePlus Explorer Card was voted the Best Frequent-Flyer Affinity Credit Card Redemption's. With this card people earn 30,000 bonus miles when they spend $1,000 during the first three months, which can be cashed in for flights and other travel related redemption's. They earn two miles per dollar on airline tickets booked through United, and one point on all others. And every year when they spend $25,000 on purchases they receive a 10,000 point bonus.
Other perks and benefits include priority boarding, first bag checked for free, and two United Club passes per year.
One last award
On another note, the airline was also tagged as being the Best Trans-Pacific Airline, getting this award for the third year in a row.
MileagePlus is United's loyalty program, in which people can earn miles via United and other airlines in their network, including United, United Express, Star Alliance airlines and other airline partners. They can then use those miles for flights and merchandise, and other aspects of travel including booking hotel stays and rental cars.
