Best Rewards Credit Cards for Grocery Shopping

We all have some standard set of monthly expenses like food, gas, rent and utility bills that eat the biggest part of our monthly budget. But what if you could save on some of those costs by earning rewards? What if you could turn your monthly trip to a grocery store into a rewarding experience? That's exactly what rewards credit cards do by giving you cash back, point rewards or miles rewards for your purchases. The point is to find the best credit card for grocery shopping that will work for you. Here's a list of credit cards that give great rewards for purchases at grocery stores.

Great Credit Cards for Grocery Store Shopping

Citi Rewards+ Card

The Citi Rewards+ Card (Citi is a Credit-Land.com advertising partner) is great for everyday purchases thanks to its round-up feature that will automatically round up to the nearest 10 points on every purchase without caps. Thus, if you make a purchase totaling $22, you will earn 30 points. If you pay $61 at a supermarket, you will earn 130 points because purchases at supermarkets, as well as purchases at gas stations, earn 2X points for the first $6,000 per year. Once you reach the limit, you will continue earning 1X points at supermarkets and gas stations. All other purchases will always earn 1X points. If you spend $1,000 in purchases within 3 months of account opening, you can earn 15,000 bonus points, which are redeemable for $150 in gift cards. Since the card comes with 0% intro APR on purchases and balance transfers for 15 months (with the ongoing APR of 13.49% - 23.49% (Variable), the balance transfer fee is 3% of each balance transfer; $5 minimum), it will be relatively easy to earn the bonus.

Amalgamated Bank of Chicago Union Strong Mastercard® Credit Card

This is one of the few credit cards that offer increased rewards in rotating purchases that change every quarter. Thus, you will earn 5x points on groceries, restaurants, and transportation from April through June. To earn 5x quarterly bonus points, you need to register at abocrewards.com every time a new quarter starts. If you do not register, you will simply earn 1 point per dollar spent on all purchases. The card also has a sign-up bonus of $150 in statement credit for spending $1,200 on purchases within the first 90 days from account opening. Since the card comes with a 0% intro APR on purchases for 12 months (the ongoing variable APR will apply after that), it will be relatively easy to earn the bonus offer.

Citi® Double Cash Card – 18 month BT offer

The Citi® Double Cash Card – 18 month BT offer features an incredible 2% cash back on ALL purchases and a lengthy 0% intro APR on balance transfers. The cash back rewards are the best we’ve seen for a card that offers a fixed cash back percentage on everything you buy. It’s easy to earn the full 2% cash back. You simply need to use your card to make a purchase to earn the first unlimited 1% cash back. And you’ll earn an additional 1% cash back after you’ve paid for your purchases. As long as you’re paying the minimum due each month, you can take as long as you want to pay off your balance and get the additional 1% cash back (aka, 2% total effective cash back). In addition to unlimited cash back, you’ll enjoy generous 18 months of a 0% intro APR on balance transfers (13.99% – 23.99% (Variable) APR will apply after that, the balance transfer fee is 3% of each balance transfer; $5 minimum). And to top it all off, there’s no annual fee and no caps on the amount cash back rewards you can earn.

Grocery shopping is an easy way to rack up rewards, therefore opting for a rewards credit card is a wise decision. You can check out other cash back credit cards we offer or see other top names credit cards we have on our site.
