American Airlines miles can be easily redeemed for nearly free flights and travel all over the world. You can also redeem for reasonable award prices in other classes of service when there are available award seats.

For award flights on American Airlines, the airline now only lists a starting price with no upper limit on how high the award price could go. To use miles to buy a ticket on American Airlines, log in to your AAdvantage account, search for available flights, and select "pay with miles" as your payment option during checkout. The number of miles needed for a ticket varies depending on the destination, date, and availability.

On your request, you'll need over 25,000 miles plus additional carrier-imposed fees (paid in cash) to book an award round trip in the main cabin per person.
