You should not have problems with it. There are travel rewards credit cards that allow to earn miles on all purchases, and miles are redeemable for airfare and other travel expenses. For example, you may like the Discover it® Miles. Using this card, you will earn 1.5x miles on all purchases everywhere. So no need to worry if you do not travel often, you will earn your miles on everyday purchases anyway. The miles you've earned at the end of your first year will be matched: say you earn 35,000 miles, you get 70,000 miles. But this is only for the first year and for new cardmembers. You can start redeeming miles whenever you want - there are no limits. Simply buy your tickets with the card and then apply your miles to the purchase. Don't worry if you do not have enough miles to cover the cost of the ticket, you can redeem for a part of the ticket cost, which is better than nothing.
