The Marriott Bonvoy™ Credit Card is a co-branded credit card that gives you rewards for staying at Marriott. The rewards rate is the following: you get 3 points per $1 spent at Marriott and SPG hotels and point per $1 on all other purchases. Besides, there is a sign-up bonus of 50,000 points that you will get after you spend $5,000 on purchases during the first three month.

Generally, the card offers solid rewards for Marriott stays and not much beyond that. You'll be able to redeem your points on Marriott stays and that's it. The card has an annual fee of $95, and in order to justify this annual fee and in general having this card, you have to stay at Marriott really often. You'll hardly be able to use this card anywhere else - neither for earning nor for redeeming your points.

That's why we would suggest getting a general rewards credit card instead. A good card to get is the Discover it® Miles credit card. It gives you 1.5 miles on all purchases, matches all of your earned miles at the end of the first year for new cardmembers and you can redeem those rewards like simple cash back.
