Allegiant Air rewards program, myAllegiant™, allows you to earn points using the Allways Rewards Visa® Credit Card . It's the only way you can earn myAllegiant™ points with the airline and you can't earn points by simply flying.

The Allways Rewards Visa® Credit Card comes with a small 15,000-point sign-up bonus, 3 points on Allegiant purchases, 2 points on dining and 1 on all other purchases. Annual fee is 1. The value of Allegiant points is fixed at one cent each. So, the $59 sign-up bonus is equal to $150 and can be used as a statement credit toward Allegiant Air purchases only.

You can't buy additional Allegiant points if you don't have enough points for a flight. Keep in mind that Allegiant points expire in 12 months of account inactivity.

While you might expect a co-branded Allegiant credit card to be the best way to earn myAllegiant™ points, you would be mistaken. Travel rewards cards that allow you to redeem points toward any travel purchase, not just those made with one airline, and have generous rewards, seem to offer more. For instance, the Discover it® Miles card offers unlimited 1.5x miles on all purchases. All the miles you've earned at the end of your first year will be matched (providing you are a new card member). For example, if you earn 35,000 Miles, you get 70,000 Miles.

You can redeem Discover miles in any amount at any time for any travel expenses, including airline tickets, hotels, cruises, rental cars and more. This card comes with no annual fee and no foreign transaction fee. Rewards have no expiration date.

As you can see, applying for an airline co-branded card is not always a good idea. Choose a card with great rewards, first-year miles match and flexible redemption options, like the Discover it® Miles, to earn miles for your next travel.
