I had the Chase Sapphire Preferred card but closed about it a year ago. Now I want this card back but not sure I will get the bonus offer. Do you think I will get that 50k bonus? I read somewhere that you cannot get the sign-up bonus if you had the card. Any thoughts?

The content is accurate at the time of publication and is subject to change.

You are quite right in your doubts. The bonus offer has the following conditions: you won’t qualify for the bonus offer if you already have any Sapphire credit card, and you won’t get the bonus offer if you had any Sapphire credit card and received the bonus within the last 24 months. Thus, since you canceled your Sapphire Preferred card a year ago, you won’t qualify for the bonus offer.

As an alternative, and while you are waiting, you can apply for another credit card that will offer you good rewards. If you need a credit card for your travels, then look at the travel rewards credit cards. If you want to earn maximum rewards on different purchases, then look at cash back rewards credit cards.
