One of my dreams is to take a Carnival cruise lines trip with my family someday. Would getting the Carnival card help me earn points toward this goal?

Earning Carnival FunPoints with their co-branded credit card is one way to get discounts on a cruise in the future, as well as being eligible for fun on-board perks like flowers, wine, and other amenities that will make you feel like a VIP while on the open seas.

However, there are other ways to use credit cards to reach your goal of cruising with your loved ones. Take a look at a range of different travel rewards credit cards and compare the terms and conditions of the rewards programs. Many travel cards that aren’t branded with the Carnival name can still earn you rewards for travel purchases, and they may amount to the same value as a Carnival card. You may consider the Discover it® Miles credit card. This card will allow you to earn unlimited 1.5 miles on all purchases and offers generous rewards offer – all the miles you’ve earned your first year will be matched at the end of the year (providing you are a new cardmember). Earned miles can be redeemed for any travel expenses including Carnival cruises and other cruises. Miles never expire and there is no limit how much you can pay.

So, don’t apply for the first card you see; instead, take your time and look for the card that’s going to get you the best value every time you swipe, tap, or insert it.
