Now cardholders of the Chase Freedom Flex®* and Chase Freedom®* cards can activate bonus categories for the second quarter of 2021.
This week Chase announced the new rotating categories for Q2 that will start on April 1 and last until June 30, 2021. The new cash back bonus categories are gas stations and home improvement stores (like Home Depot and Lowe's). Cardholders of the Chase Freedom and Freedom Flex cards will earn 5% cash back on up to $1,500 in combined purchases, which equals to $75 back or 7,500 Chase points.
The new quarterly category should be activated by June 14 then the activation will be closed.
The bonus categories for the two remaining quarters haven't been announced yet. And if you didn't activate Q1 cash back categories (January through March), you won't be able to do it as activation is closed.
Chase is not the only issuer that offers a credit card with 5% cash back quarterly categories. Discover also has a credit card with a 5% cashback bonus - the Discover it® Cash Back credit card.
Unlike Chase, Discover announced all quarterly bonus categories for 2021. In the second quarter, qualifying Discover cardholders will earn a 5% cashback bonus at gas stations, wholesale clubs, and select streaming services. Also, if you haven't activated the Q1 category you can do it right now until the quarter is over.
