LifeMiles, the frequent flyer program of Avianca Airlines, is popular among frequent flyers as it doesn't impose fuel surcharges on award tickets, have competitive redemption rates, and allows to combine cash and miles when purchasing a flight.
There are several ways to earn LifeMiles:
- Fly Avianca and its Star Alliance partners. You may find the full list of airline partners on the Avianca's website.
- Another way to earn miles is to use Avianca credit cards. The airline offers two co-branded cards with great earning potential and big sign-up bonuses. For example, you can earn 40,000 bonus miles with Avianca Vuela Visa® Card and receive 3x points on Avianca purchases. The one drawback is a high annual fee - $149. The Avianca Vida Visa® Card comes with 20,000 bonus miles and with $59 annual fee.
- Lastly, you can shop at a variety of partners to earn additional LifeMiles. For example, you can earn additional miles with car rental companies like Avis or Budget, or with world famous hotel chains like IHG, Marriott and SPG.
If you do not have the amount of miles needed, you can buy LifeMiles. On the airline's website the blocks of LM1,000 for $33.00 + taxes are available. If you are on a Spanish version of the website, just click on the Compra Millas section, if you visit English version - choose Buy LifeMiles. What is more, LifeMiles Buy Miles bonuses can sometimes give you from 50% to 200% bonus miles. LifeMiles often have miles sales where you can buy miles for 1.5 cents or even cheaper. The number of miles you can purchase per year is 200,000 miles. Don't forget that miles expire in 24 months.
